In a vacuum its fine. But comparing the enemy or environment design to the original, no contest the og is better. What we have here in the pic is a conventionally pretty but very plain environment. The terrain is completely flat, with indiscernable sci fi tech shit in the background? What are they in some sort of cyber space? What are these towers? What is it? Why is the groun completely flat, i can barely make out strange panel lines in the ground but i have no idea why theyre here. Making the terrain completely flatcould work but its not put to any sort of effect here, like its not trying to go for some spooky liminal space shit it just robs them of the opportunity to show more detail and looks conspicuously plain. I dont know what its trying to be its not really leaving a big impression. And the colors -- its just a cyan gradient. Its sort of pretty but kinda drab. Nothing pops here.

I didn't grow up with FF. I played VII for the first time in 2015. I then played VIII, IX, X, XII, XV, XVI, and obviously played both 7R games. Over that time I've realized that the FF fanbase might be one of the most jaded hard to please fanbases that exists. Is it because each game is self contained? I don't get it. You don't see this much vitriol for other series like Zelda. Is it because FF is more weeby?

I dislike remasters and remakes on principle, but i really hate what they did with the character designs and models in 7r. the elongated faces and thinned out facial features -- the nose chins and cheeks tend to look too thin and the mid face section tends to look too long, and overdesigned costumes are some of my biggest problems with the game -- only exception is yuffie i think?. Theres all that and they totally over compensated for emo AC cloud and made him a total pussy from the moment 7r starts -- yeah, he was larping as an ex soldier badass in 7, but he was doing a good job at it mostly and its supposed to be a big shock when it turns out he isnt, and yeah he has a sensitive side but he wasnt literally an uke / femboy

Only thing i like about 7r, is that flashback cloud is wearing a stock SOLDIER uniform, i think thats a good detail to add.
