People don't see a movie to watch the fucking forest. The forest is backdrop, it should add to the scene or else be as unobtrusive as possible. If you're making a live action movie your actors look real (because they ARE real) and as such the forest should look real as well or it's out of place. Realism is as valid a stylistic choice as anything else and "if it's too real people would rather drive to the forest" is a completely unhinged take.
