And chess is boring for most people so w/e.
Games with masters can go on for hours, sure. Games between normal people tend to end in ten minutes or less, usually because one of them remembered a cheap strat online that the other didn't know.

A game needs some kind of randomness and hidden information to spice things up. I prefer Riichi Mahjong because every single game is different and exciting even after ten of thousands of played hanchanes, yet there still is a high skill ceiling.
