I'm going to choose to believe there is a lore reason for this even though I know perfectly well that there is not.
Honestly, doing a solo run during the time my friends aren't on makes me appreciate everything more. Having buddies share various duties along with 4x the inventory makes exploration nice along with naturally playing with friends. The only downside is having to grind out multiple keypads and trying to share same loot so we can all get weapons/armor. Playing solo means I get to learn the maps more and understand certain mechanics better along with actually knowing what audio logs are somewhat referencing because I'm there. We came back to 1.0 starting fresh after clearing out the Security sector last time. We only play once a week though and are currently half way through Manufacturing. Solo wise I just beat the furniture store.
I think the biggest QOL this game needs is either autocrafting sub parts for a recipe when you have them or being able to hit back and automatically go back to the recipe instead of looking for it.

>>717314892If I was in charge of reworking it I'd cut the hydration meter entirely and put in a stomach meter that stops you from eating food after a certain point, and a nutrition meter that provides buffs to all your stats when it's full, but can't kill you if it's emptied.
So you could fill up on easy stuff like soups but the only way to keep nutrition full would be to make high-tier stuff.

>>717315282I agree with the anons shitting on the jetpack because it feels way worse to use in the majority of cases but there are some benefits, and Canaan runs are one. You can make one hover up to the outhouse past the mine, one up to the scaffolding, then one up the gap to the swamp. It takes like two minutes from the entry portal.
The jetpack really is just shittier for avoiding fall damage and horizontal traversal which is the most important thing, so the use cases are pretty scarce, but when it's useful it's REALLY useful.

Just started a new singleplayer game because my MP buddy is too busy to play. We had our MP base in the Security Office so I want to do something else this time. Got a temp base in the Cafeteria for now, but I want to move to somewhere more permanent so I can put down tons of farms.
>>717328946That achievement was frustrating enough that it made me drop the game and I have not played it since.
relying on chopinators/coils is just leaving aiming XP on the floor
>>717337126It isn't cool, but if you want max functionality build a base on the far side of the central plaza where the Manufacturing and Labs trams arrive. Just need to have a consistent killtrap for the Plaza robot and the lab rat, as well as being ready to fuck up the giant power leech when the blackouts happen
>>717337126I like playing like a roof goblin by settling down above the data farm: plenty of flat space, no walls making it extra chaotic, safe from bots and raids, swimming pool and slushie machine close by.
>>717304920Server needs to own the dlc
>>717337493Too bad the ranged weapons suck ass.
>>717337658Sounds nice and central, but indeed very boring.
>>717338083Roof goblin sounds very cool. Are there even sockets up there?
>>717338193Where are you? That simply isn't true by the time you get to manufacturing guns ranged weapons are OP. Use the grinder instead of military weapons (except shotguns and sniper).
Of course throwing is much stronger than ranged is.
>>717338616Manufacturing yeah, been slow going because it's so hard to fit our schedules together.
Scrapshot = sucks
Pipe pistol = sucks
Regular pistol = sucks
Sounds more like the Grinder's an outlier.
I don't suppose the projectile pickup perk works with bolts fired from my crossbow?
>>717296734 (OP)nuh yeh
>>717338774>I don't suppose the projectile pickup perk works with bolts fired from my crossbow? It does and also the grinder discs.
So get to grinding that throwing skill.
>>717338603>Are there even sockets up there? There is one, you'll have to craft a few strips and boards to power everything but the tangled mess of cables and wires hanging from above adds a lot to the ambiance.
Is the magbow good? Been running the carbon pick but it's too slow for my liking
>>717338729Scrapshot is strong enough to use for 2-3 sectors, I use it end game occasionally. Pipe pistol is stronger than it seems but relies on headshots/being upgraded to really shine so it's the worst of the group.
Regular pistol is good for grinding accuracy since ammo is so abundant.
>>717338774It works for the grinder so I think it does for the crossbow too.
>>717339019Guess I'll give the grinder a proper try, but those aforementioned weapons are made completely redundant by my peccary club that I crafted right in the beginning of the game. The rush attack just murders everything so far.
>find scientist trapped in a containment cell
>let him out
>find audio recording about an scp disguised as a dead scientist
welp
>>717339165You can get through the game primarily with melee + sneaking, but by the time you get to one of the later sectors you'll want to start making nades at least.
>>717339340Yeah throwing seems like it'd complement melee well, I just wish there was more early game options than the pens.
>>717339014It's very good, but the ammo is hard to make.
>>717339485My friend ran a backup spear instead of throwing darts. You have further range and gain more XP with a spear and you can infinitely pick it up and repair it. Just expect it to go flying off a cliff at least once.
>>717339014Skip it and grind for a sniper. .308 is so abundant in reactors and it does the same damage with a much better upgrade.
>>717339531Not a bad idea, could even do 2-3 of them if I reorganize my toolbar a bit.
>>717339591Don't I need to wear some gay arm armor? am already sacrificing my legs for bionics
>>717339673You can bench it off, just costs some durability iirc.
>>717339673If you're sacrificing your leg slot then you don't really need to care about anything more than 2 armor pieces for the set bonus. Also upgrading the sniper unlocks it so that's moot by hydro.
>>717339802what do you mean by that
>>717339830Ah I was only half right, going off of hearsay, when you upgrade them you can remove the lock: https://abioticfactor.wiki.gg/wiki/Enhancement_Bench
Does this running animation remind anyone else of Braid?
So whats the best way to collect poop after portal toilet? hope you get sent there and just put the fishing waders on?
>>717339932>have to go underwater for the red brickhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SF-oQmqaj0
>>717340317I grinded out a poop teleporter by bringing a makeshift battery, a crafting bench, and an extra personal teleporter with me every time I took a shit.
>>717340543It's really not that bad.
>>717340568if you barrel the liquid feces can you get individual poopies out of it or do you just have to fish once you can teleport there?
>>717296734 (OP)eeeuuuh, not now mom, eeeuuuh
Ok, I've literally just had the leyak spawn three times in I think less than five minutes, the first time aggroing through a wall before she even got close. I have eaten a cosmato wrap, but even I know this isn't intended mechanics.
How the hell do you get more rice seeds?
can someone post the "I need to watch you defecate for science" image? I forgot to save it.
>>717342384there's one that respawns in the mountains (hydroplant portal)
this game reminds me of voices of the void for some reason
>>717342590They're both unreal engine games pretending to be source engine games
>>717342148idk it's an email temrinal somewhere
>>717342148mountain range station email terminal i think
>>717296734 (OP)https://youtu.be/c6uTBlek2Pw?si=Sn2KO-gw2lKA-iDm
>>717342384The one in the caves area of manufacturing respawns every few days. It's up on a ledge near the pool of water (not the purple drank water).
The plant drops seed when you harvest, it's just a low chance.
>>717342643they also both run like shit because retard devs can't into lighting
>>717341163Greyebs or any food containing them will attract the leyak. It's intended to allow you to farm him quickly. After about 10 minutes or so he'll go back to his normal spawn rate. Check your buffs.
>>717342384Carson sells them for glowsticks
what weapons I should have by the reactor?
>>717344110Crowbar 2.0 and a bowl of soup
>>717333408I swear robots just update their pathfinding to home on your base if its near their usual route. This shit can't be real otherwise. Niggas even open doors without having any aggro just so they can see my base and aggro on it.
>>717344110Energy pistol, mugnades, and carbon pickaxe
>>717333408Gym is a pretty shit place to base really. It seems nice at first because of the pool but it's too open.
>>717344507Z17 and the magnums are good, everything else is trash though.
Especially the romags, goddamn they are horrible.
>>717344507The game encourages you to use science weapons
the uprgades are useless because by the time you can uprgade a weapon you can also craft/find a stronger one alltogether
I think there are many great things about this game, but don't we think the crafting gets a bit tedious at a certain point needing to craft items to craft items to craft items?
>>717345083>don't we thinkkill yourself drone
wtf the grinder is better than I thought. That shit can pretty much 1 shot. If you're aiming for the head it can 2 shot a grunt and you can collect the discs too
>>717344017Yeah, but five times in seven or eight minutes, not typical behaviour I've seen before. I'm here in the power services building setting up a new base, and the leyak seems a bit strange here. Just now aggroed again outside point blank range through solid material and apparently disappeared two seconds later (I didn't even see it).
Oh well, containment is set up, so she can move in now instead of having to visit.

Where the hell is the other end of this pipe? I found it pre 1.0 but now I super can't remember where the fuck it is
>>717345691isn't it at the very start of the game?
>>717345905I mean the other end in hydroplant so I can use it from offices.
>>717343575Thank you kind sir.

Well this is fun. And I somehow misplaced my office teleporter.

>>717338729I found the scrapshot to be great against soldiers if you do the same trick as with L4D witches: run up behind them, crouch, then aim at their head. Back off as they stagger and reload & repeat.
>brand new PC with an RTX 5080

Can someone give me a hint on how to get the "Reaper"s sigil ? I don't want to be entirely spoiled if possible but I'm at the reactors, I've searched his portal and done a bunch of fishing and I still haven't found it, so I'm pretty sure I missed it...
