It takes a few weeks for models to get worked on to shrink them down, a lot of them are not worth it tho, being open source, you always have something new to try on.
8 is what I have and is almost worthless for newer stuff, but still good enough for any still image, and there are apps like pinokio that streamline the whole thing with one click installs.
It was fun for a while back in 2022, but I'm pretty much over it.
You can even use CPU to gen images and video, but the time it takes to generate isn't worth it, you'll be waiting for hour+ while yer PC is frying and for a bunch of almost good images, but have one glaring flaw you need to reroll again.
If you want to make aislop just pay a service, you're gonna gen degen shit, pay for cloud time off runpod or other such site.
