Seriously, what the fuck were they thinking? It's like he was supposed to be a breakout character but then halfway through development they just decided to make him an absolute clown for no reason.
It's also weird how Miranda gets constantly shit on for being aligned with Cerberus, but not Jacob. When if anything, that should be swapped. Miranda was on the run from her psychotic father and Cerberus saved her and her sister. She knew firsthand that they can do good and joined them based on that. Jacob explicitly just wanted more action without red tape holding him back, but iirc Shepard doesn't even get the chance to call him out for that. It's like you're not allowed to consider him anything other than a good guy despite him willingly signing up to a terrorist group so that he could do more killing than as a soldier.

Basically some higher-ups got really nervous about the media controversy over the sex scenes in Mass Effect 1, so a decision was made to cut all the bisexual/gay stuff from the main cast in 2.

I'm honestly kinda surprised they didn't add back the missing content in the remaster. But I guess that would have required actual effort.
