My only exposure to VTM was playing Bloodlines but the game did make it seem like Tremere take good care of their own. Granted everyone else hates you and trusts you the least of every clan and you're always doing the dirty work of every Tremere older than you but it still seems like a good deal for how protective they are of their own kind.

While that's true, it did have 4 endings, and was heavily driven by physics and systems. You can see some obvious parallels here. According to Game Informer:

It's good to remember that aside from the Nosferatu and a few other bloodlines, what clan you're in doesn't determine your attractiveness. The Toreador reputation for beauty is largely a selection bias thing. In fact many of the more artsy Toreador are pissed off at the reputation they often get for being vapid whores.

The tabletop sometimes says that the embrace often makes someone look better but honestly? The tabletop says a lot of stuff that isn't reflected mechanically and is typically forgotten by writers and players alike. At best it's a nebulous excuse for raising your appearance when you're supposed to be a vampire whose appearance is the same as the moment they got embraced.
