Still the most overrated game ever made. So much lack of quality control in review scores and corruption in the 90s. What a coincidence the Zelda game they were banking on selling their 3d console just so happened to be perfect. Even in 98 it was overrated. Puzzles weren't great a lot of crate pushing, block pushing and targets over doorways. People are on about how corrupt journalism is but magically it wasn't corrupt in 98 when there was even less scrutiny on it? Even 9 year old me smelled the bullshit around OoT. It wasn't bad but it is overrated beyond belief.

I’ve played it through twice and it’s not on the top of my list. It’s okay, kind of tedious at times. The first few times I played it as a kid (but didn’t finish it, we just rented it) it was an awesome experience though, so it earned its reputation mostly.

I played it, going in without any clue how praised it was. It did things I never imagined a game could do beforehand and which I can't at all say have been equaled by anything.

Yes, the dungeon puzzles specifically are overpraised, that's fair, but the game world as a whole is so full of interesting mystery in a way that I really don't see done in anything else in quite the same way and this is absolutely part of why it's rightfully considered the GOAT. You cannot play Final Fantasy and find yourself with the freedom to whip out an instrument and play an arbitrary song at any time or use a grapple hook on a given surface.
