It wasn't even pushed by Democrats. It was pushed by a tiny class of radical, pseudointellectual retards from Tumblr and Pre-Tumblr blogs who were propped up as useful idiots by Obama's government and the financial industry in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis so they could side step the real animosity that was brewing in favor of paying lip service to bullshit that sounded progressive without hurting their bottom lines. It permeated the rest of the business culture, even globally, and it grew way beyond its station to the point of biting big businesses on the ass, because these people are never satisfied with any amount of pandering, by definition. So now they're trying to walk it back as much as they can without causing another reckoning that would sink their asses, and a bunch of political and business stooges are shuffling around to try to take their spots to get on the lifeboats, or at least a few floating doors before the Titanic goes down and they can rebuild the world in their image once they hit the shore.
