Nowadays you can't do that, you pay sixty or more dollars for a game and if it's shit then you're stuck with it. Want to watch a movie? You need to subscribe to like nine fucking streaming services to actually access a quarter of the content that Blockbuster and equivalent rental stores had because despite having thousands of movies on each of them, 90% are utter slop mockbusters. The only way out is piracy but even that is getting utterly fucked now by takedowns and then subsequently gatekept unless you're part of the private tracker illuminati. That's if you can actually find a torrent for an older movie or game that anyone is actually seeding. It was just nice and fucking simple, you go to blockbuster, you get some shit to do later, and you leave.
