Since the time GTA V released, we've had fromsoft redefine gaming with every release since DS1. We've had Nintendo revive Zelda with BOTW and its sequel TOTK (and people thought that took forever). We've had witcher 3 and cyberpunk released by the same studio, and we'll have ghost of tsushima and ghost of yotei from one studio. We've had entirely new devs make games like lies of P and black myth Wukong. We've completely stopped caring about series like assassin's creed and final fantasy. Why should anyone care about GTA 6 at this point? It's gonna be some duke nukem forever tier shit at this point.

I like to think that they tried to outsource to some indian devs, and halfway through realized it was completely fucked before starting over. I read somewhere that this is what happened to the ff7 remake. I know for sure that Capcom lost a ton of time and money because Inafune kept hiring stupid incompetent devs for his Megaman world game or whatever it was called before just completely taking a bath on it and canceling the game.

Wanna chip in that I once worked for a well off US company that had an indian CEO who also made his son “director” or some nepo shit (he was my boss). They would set up operations here but use indian devs for slave wages. Why any of this is relevant is I got to see the true nature of indian devs, and how the company owners KNEW they were scumbag liars. Every single day I would sit in on conference calls where the director would beat the absolute DOG SHIT out of the devs, because if you didn’t they would blatantly lie about whether a bug was fixed, if they had worked on something, their progress, etc. You had to verify everything they said, and upon uncovering the lie you have to rub their nose in it and just mercilessly punish them. It was fucking insane, and it happened every day. Their dishonest nature was basically a cultural norm. I guarantee you that most US game dev companies don’t understand this. They’re being lied to regularly and probably have some gigantic core problems that have been allowed to snowball for months to years on end because no one grilled these sneaky pajeets.
