KH1 had the best story mainly because of it being a simple (and clean) hero's journey adventure where the Disney elements played major parts and though dark, the storyline had legit reason to be dark instead of edgy.
Then the series started to slowly become psuedo battle shounen shit though at least KH2 had a perfectly conclusive enough ending.
