Mass Effect. I am kind of cheating since I did do one playthrough with FemShep, but that was 1 out of like 10 playthroughs I've done of the trilogy. I just vastly prefer how Shepard sounds as a guy and it doesn't help that Garrus and Wrex are the only cool male companions while everyone else is either shit, forgettable or doesn't join until 3 (Javik and Huge McBeefcake).

On the opposite side of things, I almost always play as a girl in Pokemon because the boys look boring as fuck and I only doubled down on that when they added customization options and made all the male clothing options shit.

I like making characters and then roleplaying as them, switching up the gender sometimes helps add wrinkles to how they'd act, same goes for their race, class, etc.
Now if the protag is a set character and you're just picking their gender like in FE, that just comes down to a preference of design. Like I prefer Male Robin and Male Byleth, but I also played as Female Corrin and Female Alear.
