I made an outer wilds thread about how I tried to cheese part of brittle hollow and some fag wrote a spoiler and I just want to say I cleared that part of brittle hollow right after I made the thread, like the next try and by the time I read the spoiler I already did the thing in game that you said to do, so top kek fag

Was it the quantum tower? I don't think there's anything even remotely as challenging on the planet.

This entire game is really cool, I've been holding off playing it for years so it can be a pick me up experience.

I actually had no issues with the quantum shit. I was trying to get into the observatory and the fag spoiled the ending but I got there anyway. I actually did the quantum stuff pretty easy because I accidently fell into the black hole near the end of the 22 mins and saw the thing

I don't even remember a spoilerable trick getting to the observatory, just that it was tedious

Getting inside is just a matter of a little wall walking. I think he meant somebody spoiled the rotation thing you learn in the observatory.

So I've been diving into Outer Wilds mods for a while now, the one I'm playing currently is called "The Stranger They Are." I was able to finish all the other ones I downloaded but I genuinely feel like dropping this one, it's just way too long-winded. Has anyone else played this, I'd be curious to here how close to the end I was: I just got past the quantum anglerfish area and found the new planets.

no. someone posted in the thread the thing that happens at the very end of the game, like the final loop. I went into the southern observatory as one of the last things in the game in general because I didn't like brittle hollow. Like when I got into it I already knew all the info anyway and had been to the moon and stuff

I've played four so far, including The Stranger They Are.

https://outerwildsmods.com/mods/astralcodec/ Astral Codec is the only one I'd say is a must-play, even if the story was a little silly. It captured what I loved about the base-game that Echoes of the Eye was missing, namely the space exploration and flying. I liked it as much as the base game

https://outerwildsmods.com/mods/christmasstory/ Christmas Story is mostly a challenge mod, it makes you execute some pretty tricky flying, but it's cute and silly otherwise

And then The Outsider and The Stranger They Are which I'd lump together as having 'ok' puzzles and stories so bad they make me wanna kill myself. I have recommended The Outsider to people just purely on the basis of seeing how awful the story is.

I wish I had better stuff to recommend but I still haven't tried very many mods yet, hoping to fix that

Did anyone else find this game kind of depressing?

Like, there's this whole civilization that gets destroyed. You play find and seek with a couple of children and they die 22 minutes later.

Playing guitar with a bunch of ghosts doesn't really make up for it.

It's about embracing your mortality and finding value in your memories and friends. Everything dies, and (in that game's interpretation) is reborn eventually so there's no need to be scared.

the guy who made the game is from california. one of the big themes is nature just kind of happens, it isn't malicious and you can't do anything about it and it's no less important if it isn't intentional

>this whole civilization that gets destroyed
The entire universe fucking dies. This game is about accepting that end comes to all things. But it also about hope, since you get to kickstart a new universe. Not something that would normally happen after the heat death. That said, the crisis in cosmology continues, and the cosmological constant looks less and less... constant every day. Some even suggesting we might be headed for the Big Crunch. Which, in turn, can potentially bounce back into another Big Bang. That's a comforting thought - a cyclical universe, but all the more reason to be careful with the idea.

I wouldnt make a thread about a game you are playing rn, or visit v when a new game comes out that you wanna play. people are gonna discuss the endings day 1. not getting spoiled for e33 was a bitch, avoided v for 2 weeks

The opposite.
It's more like "LIFE FIND A WAY" even in what is supposed to be the last moment of the universe
We could argue it was meant to happen like a laws of physic that an observer ALWAYS reach the Eye.

i liked the game but personally the part of the ending where you're walking around the woods and talking to your memories or whatever kinda took away from it for me, i feel like it would have had more of an impact for me if they skipped the woods section entirely, except maybe the first bit of watching the lights go out and realizing it was other stars super novaing

it gets better after the first few hours when you have more information. Like in the beginning I kept thinking
>oh you must need something to do this
and the ship flying is weird, but it's like a metroidvania where info is the power up and you can technically go anywhere and do anything in the game with the starting stuff if you know how

Yeah, the tools the modders use for this game are sophisticated enough to make things like new planets. It's pretty cool
