yes this, they rewrote it all so it is less meaningful and the character deaths were so scripted in the plot to massively tear jerk for no reason.
I ain't spoiling, but this constant rewriting of the story itself, and oh the totally mysterious character appearing out of nowhere singing Sam's lullaby, who could it only be? ohhh and everyone just happens to be suddenly blood related.

I dare say it's actually better in 1 because the map in 1 has more varied and interesting topography and mules are better and enemy camps have more variety and differing layouts.

I actually went back and did all of the optional deliveries because of how easy it is to go around in DS2

Even at the end of the game Deadman feels the need to explain to Sam, multiple times, what he has to do with Lou. Kojima truly thought everyone playing his game is an emotionally stunted mongoloid.

It's fucking boring and gay.

The first game I kept playing to unlock easier ways to get around the environment culminating in unlocking the ziplines in the mountains near the end. You get the ziplines way before the mountains. So whats motivating me to keep playing besides the story? You also get the vehicles super early so you can just drive from point to point, bypassing any challenge. The game is just too easy. The only thing making the first game engaging was the challenge of getting across the environment. When thats trivialized in the first third or even quarter of the second game, whats left?
