The reduction of cheater numbers is real in the sense that people that would fuck around with cheap/free cheats off Discord are gone because it's too much risk or too much work for what was going to be short-term use anyways.
But cheaters at a high level are about just as abundant as they were before because the people that TRULY cheat exist past a specific threshold and in a specific context and those are not going to stop cheating unless they really have to and kernel level anticheat doesn't really stop cheats. Fucking up the procedure to turn on secureboot has an actual chance at bricking your mobo. And the procedures vary between manufacturers. And the manufacturer's instructions for the procedure can just be... Wrong. There's tons of logacy products and they just copy paste the one instruction for all of them despite the code being different and there's your mobo, unironically, bricked.

It makes it so you can only boot signed code. It sounds innocent, but basically MS is the only one that has the keys for allowing code to run on boot. Which means if you want to use Secure Boot and another OS, like Linux, you either have to disable Secure Boot or you have to use a "shim", which uses MS keys to boot another OS. So basically you have to have something enabled in your BIOS that says only MS can control what OS you boot.

If you install BF6, you will always use Windows. And it will be Windows 11 with Windows Recall and all the spyware, since Windows 10 support is going away.

It was originally for rootkit/trojan prevention. Get a virus in low enough in the boot, fuck all windows can do to stop it. So if the UEFI will only load signed bootloaders, then an infected one would be flagged as bad. But now we have kernel anti-cheat, that means if you want to cheat you now need to get even lower than the kernel so your cheat program can lie to the anti-cheat about the state of the machine. And that's all protected by the secure boot chain. Disable secure boot, windows won't load the secure modules, kernel anti-cheat can't run and you can't play the game.
And so I'm not saying this is benign and nothing to worry about, far far from it. I'm saying that if you play modern online games on your PC you've been letting corpos riddle your machine with borderline malware for years. Secure boot is a funny line in the sand to draw. Personally I wouldn't run any of these games on any machine that has anything more than just that game. Fuck that.

It's not just scary, but people can encounter issues. I had two big problems when getting Secure Boot to work, and I only got through because I'm tech savvy.
Problem 1: I can't even enter BIOS normally because I hold Delete during startup and my keyboard doesn't work.
What did I do? I went to System > Recovery and did Advanced startup. That's how I entered BIOS.
Problem 2: My BIOS said Secure Boot was Enabled. Why wouldn't BF6 start? It's because it wasn't enabled. I had to find the solution on Reddit.

I don't know how much of this is true, according to google 45% of steam is on windows 10, and people review bombed 2042 for the secure boot update.
