Xana isn't evil. She is sacred of your father and wanted to convince you to not let him out. She doesn't want to see the entire world burn. She strikes me more as the type of woman, who wants to sit on a throne with a tiled marble floor, a huge bath house, many servants, in short, a royal concubine living the life of absolute luxury. She is also not evil to you. She helps you where she can, gives advice, saved your life by risking hers, she always flirts with you, but starts to genuinely fall for you, as she is seeing your growth as a Hero.

Because her existence doesn't make sense. Xana even almost breaks the fourth wall to make fun of her for it. She's the leader of the expedition to get the skull of shadows for the Dark Messiah? The Demon Cultists among the Wizards knew about the prophecy for thousands of years, waited for your birth, for you coming of age and they send someone, who has nothing to do with the organization, who doesn't believe in their goals to LEAD the expedition? It's stupid. It's badly written on purpose to have a meta reason for Sareth to choose a "good girl". Realistically she should be a Demon Cultist too and try to seduce for herself, while competing with Xana.
