FF7 Rebirth/Remake Discussion Thread
I was so hyped up and having a good time with the game up to the point of getting to the open world for the first time. In fact I enjoyed the first few minutes of the open world and fighting monsters, it felt so beautiful.
But after I came back to the game later, it just dawned on me. WTF IS THIS FILLER PADDING??? Is it just me or did they add even MORE than the first one? The opening with Sephiroth got me all excited and having the crew be on the run in the aftermath of Midgar had me feeling like things were gonna be hella dramatic.
But the open world makes it all seem detached from the story. So much so the NPC's feel completely unphased by the events going on. I'm not gonna say the game feels like trash all of a sudden, but this doesn't feel like an FF7 Remake, it feels like a fanservice padding simulator.
It's been awhile since I've played FF7 but going off what I remember, even though a lot of it was running around blurry prerendered backdrops, the stuff that felt side content-ish didn't feel detached from the main story, even in tone.
There was a lot of melancholy to the npc interactions and you'd get their perspectives of the impact Shinra had and the state of the planet.
