Sales mean nothing if we haven't gotten a new game in seven (7) years with absolutely nothing on the horizon.

I'm fine with the franchise being dead from an official standpoint because there are still a handful of bitchin' fangames to look forward to. I WILL play Corrupted before I die.

Why spend $500,000 to make $2,000,000 when you can spend $500,000 to make $10,000,000?

That's why Mega Man is dead. You throw the words Street Fighter, Resident Evil or Monster Hunter on something and it sells 10 million copies in the blink of an eye. Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Devil May Cry, Onimusha, Dragon's Dogma, Dino Crisis, ect are all either dead or on life support for the same reason.

The game doesn't just need to not flop, it needs to make enough money to compete with just having that team make yet another Monster Hunter DLC pack.

the mega man formula is still great but i think it's a case of it "not meeting the expectations of the modern audience" or whatever. they're relatively punishing games that don't hold your hand and have memorization heavy proto-souls bosses...there's no way to make megaman less niche without it not being megaman anymore.
they should let inti creates take another stab at it if they manage to stay afloat, the zero games are my favorite after x2 and x4

What's stopping Capcom contacting inti creates for a new mega man title? It's obvious they are competent enough for this and it won't take much cash to do

No one knows. Capcom simply has too many great IPs with only a couple of them actually making them the big bucks. Why bother making a new Mega Man game, or a new Ace Attorney game, or a new Devil May Cry game when they can just shit out another Monster Hunter or Resident Evil and see guaranteed success?

Anonymous No.717355771
>>717355573
Honestly, I wasn't even aware of the state of Wilds until just now as I do not follow Monster Hunter because I don't really give a shit about it. Nice to see it's flailing a bit I guess. I doubt this will be any sort of wake up call for anything more than just them needing to change something for Monster Hunter though. It's not like they're gonna suddenly pivot from a series that has been giving them unprecedented success for the past 10 years.

It sold 10 million copies, they're laughing all the way to the bank. It's post-release reception might end up damaging the brand in the long term but that's a problem for future Capcom.

The entire Mega Man fanbase desperately needs to stop cocksucking Inti Creates. They haven't made a good game in well over 15 years –no, their endless cavalcade of soulless pixelshit Mega Man clones are not good – and every single poor decision made in 10 and 11 lays on their shoulders. They've demonstrated again and again that their "love for Mega Man" is nothing more than marketing talk, and that when actually placed in a position to design these games are completely unenthused. Capcom should be making Mega Man in-house or not at all.

The Zero series ended a fifth of a century ago. Get over it.

At this point they should make a Capcom Astro Boy game like they originally wanted for the first game. I'd want it not because it'd be cool or anything, but it would cause the Mega Man fanbase to seethe and melt like the opening of the Lost Ark.

They made Curse of the Moon, Curse of the Moon 2, Blaster Master Zero, Blaster Master Zero 2, Blaster Master Zero 3, Gunvolt 2, Gunvolt 3 and Luminous Avenger iX. I'm not going to say all those games are perfect or that every game they release is good, but they're not just riding on MMZ's coattails either.
