Still mogs every horror game 11 years later. How did they do it? Not only the MG, but the DLC also managed to be as interesting and iconic as the main storty
>>717355559 (OP) The Whistleblower and Dead Space 2's DLC are like the few times I think DLC is better than the main game. And they did it because it was interesting. I actually cared about picking up files and learning the lore. A lot of horror games just have fluff background info but I genuinely enjoyed the backstory to this game
>>717355559 (OP) 1 + Whistleblower are genuinely great. It's a shame they dropped the ball on Outlast 2. Not that it was bad, exactly, it's just not scary at all.
>>717357950 This is 8.5/10 easily, but the last 3-4 hours of the game feel like the developers said "we have all these unused ideas, let's cram them in" and as a result, every replay feels like a slog once I hot the 85% mark
>>717355559 (OP) Cliched halloween haunted house kinda. I mean the Penumbra devs had already been making Penumbras and Amnesia is still the only real helpless bitch game that works

I like the concept of Outlast 1 + 2 but the actual games are awful to play. That said, I am excited to see Outlast 3 when Red Barrels finally decides to stop milking the live service meme and get back to making real games.
>>717355559 (OP) Eddie Gluskin was too sexy, how is that supposed to scare you?

>>717363373 I hate Outlast Trials man. Cooperative shit took all the isolation horror feeling from it. If theres no one to play with you, its too hard to solve the puzzles and if you play with someone... is no longer horror
>>717363829 It's fun when you start with people at the same time but if you arrived like a few hours late you are already left behind while the pros do all the work. They should make an offline option since the villains are amazing
You spend the whole game hiding from the monster lmao. You get some measly revolver and grenades yo scare away rats and thatโs it. Itโs a hide and seek simulator.
I'm surprised they haven't made a remake yet when other horror games are getting one, pretty sure the DLC being longer and combined with the main game would be cool
>>717355559 (OP) I didn't care for it, the DLC is pretty interesting tho.

The problem with Outlast is that the entire game looks like the same copypasted environments. You can really tell that it was a small indie title despite the high fidelity. Outlast 2 is better in this regard but that game has its own problems.
>>717365576 Outlast 2 is too confusing. Too much theories and especulations and almost none of them make sense. How the hell did the mc wife got 9months pregnant that easily? What the hell happened to the mc at the end? What was the white light that fucks everything up? Outlast 1 and whistleblower had a complex lore, but it was considerably easier to get
>>717358276 It really is The first event I played was the escape event and it was really fun

>>717355559 (OP) an they turned it in to an always online multiplayer game to sell you skins

>>717366359 Yes. That was actually one of the easiest part to deduce by the npcs mumbling and isolation. Ironically, that was one of my favorite parts in the game.
