To be amused by the absurdity but quietly horrified when you randomly relate to these characters or experience in some kind of way. The way Ashley talks to her brother seems insane but there's a really unsettling nature to the way she speaks when you start to notice you might know a couple of "Ashley"s in your day to day. People who are so unthinking and unfeeling, so lacking in empathy that they weaponise anything they can to get what they want and then play the victim when it suits them. Seeing Andrew lose himself to sadness and grief but have literally no one else to turn to but the one person who is the source of all of his suffering. Even heavy handed stuff like the parent's obviously apparent neglect is stuff that can hit close to home for some people. The game also grazes a lot of taboo stuff obviously; sometimes people just want to witness that stuff without going too deep into it. People like the cartharsis of being part of things that are 'wrong'. There's an inherent draw to many things people would consider forbidden, even if the actual subject matter itself isn't anything too extreme beyond just surface level depictions.

Also the art is nice.
