I joined the official fan server for Fusion which has everything there specifically for it. I don't really want to play something as ridiculous as Brutal Mode or EX+ so this is good enough for me.

Not hard, it's just roundabout when the obvious solution is to just publish it on Github or something similar rather than force people into your server and then have mods hosted on Nexus or ModDB. Balatro mods are all done through Github for example.

Fusion specifically gets a lot of eyeballs on it because of this specific webm. You'll find tons of people farming views posting it on places like Twitter, Facebook, Youtube Shorts, Instagram, Tiktok, etc. If you're remotely into PvZ at all and watch Youtube videos about it your feed will get inundated with videos about it as well.

Since you can only get the mod from Billibilli and people don't know how to read Chinese this leads to people being able to take advantage of ignorant people randomly downloading things from Youtube descriptions or random links they say are the download. People also averse to joining a Discord for download links also leads to this happening. Then there's the Chinese side of things which are also trying to capitalize on people not knowing where to get the official game so they want a piece of the pie too.
