What is your favorite shit game?
Mine is We Happy Few. The gameplay is bad but the atmosphere and story are both so enjoyable to me that I replay it every year. It just annoys me that it could have been a high rated game if the devs were more capable.

Shit game like objectively? Probably something modern that I get a lot of joy from for some inexplicable reason, either homefront (1) or timeshift, both are really mediocre gen 7 titles, that for some reason just bring me immense joy, I didn't play them back when they came out so it's not like nostalgia for the era, I just genuinely enjoy the games.
Games I think are shit but enjoy anyway? Any MMO I still play. OSRS, maplestory, DnF/arad/DFO, vindictus, they're all awful for a multitude reasons (bots near the top for each) but I still love them for the gameplay quality they each have.

Objectively not very good in the writing and gameplay department, but it's so charming that I love it anyway

>another dime a dozen boomer shooter
such a cool story idea
really well written characters though there isn't a lot of interaction
good enemy design
it's sad that midway is gone now I would totally play a remake

Dai Senryaku on the PS2. it doesnβt have any kind of reputation as a crappy game, and it looks pretty good, but itβs actually unplayable horrible. Despite that, itβs one of my favorite games, and is inspired me to develop several of my own. Itβs a turn based military game where the weapons and armor and evasion values of every unit are really really well done. Thereβs artillery that can fire across the map, stealth bombers are as insanely dangerous as they sound, itβs a really good time in theory. In practice, it barely even qualifies as a video game because they screwed up and they accidentally made it so any faction in the game can produce units roughly 4 times faster than itβs possible to lose them. All armies involved balloon to extraordinarily massive sizes and itβs almost impossible to win almost any game on any difficulty setting against a player that has any idea what theyβre doing. Literally just a stalemate every single match once the map runs out of tiles to fit units on. I even tried making a custom map with as few resources as is possible to put in the game, and against three dedicated anti-air units an Apache takes two turns to die, and one turn to produce. Itβs completely completely impossible to play the game as intended, but the way that movement works, the way that combat works, the way they made it so weapons that can engage multiple kinds of targets can actually do so were all really inspiring to my own indie dev efforts. Im currently working on a single player turn based game about Air to Ground ops in the F-35 (pic related) and im aping a lot of the systems Dai Senryaku used.

Are they 100% moviegames with QTE gameplay and dogshit writing? Yes.
Are they fucking hilarious and entertaining as hell regardless? Yes.

I thought Left Alive concept, overall aesthetic, and story were cool, it would have been a top-tier game, maybe even the next Metal Gear-like game, if they had done the game right. Sadly, we are not living in that alternative universe

If I'll be honest with myself Megaman Legends but I can't admit that it's shit because it's an artifact of its time and that's ok.

The Masterplan.
>awful controls
>not enough missions
>locking NPCs in a room causes a memory leak that eventually crashes the game
But god damn if it isn't fun to barge in a store/bank/casino, point a gun at everyone and clean the place out.
