Indeed, the levels are the real challenge more so than bosses, and I prefer that. Amazing visual and gimmick variety, each level is wildly different almost like playing Megaman or Zelda.
I made a list once in the past and almost every single stage had something to throw you off and approach it differently. Combat engine might be limited, but they used their genius to keep it fresh. Simple stuff like the knights rushing after you from a mile ago on Iron's Keep makes you play differently and try to efficiently clear a path to the boss, Shrine of Amana forcing you to snipe the casters, or the Drake place with the knights watching your duels as you go up the stairs (and they'll attack if you are a coward)
