Penny's Big Breakaway is the best post-5th gen platformer I played, but the art sends /vpol/ into a tantrium, so nobody here played it.

The art is great, you just can't into pop art or Sega Saturn aesthetics. >>717389650
Nothing was wrong with Penny. She was expressive and charming in motion.

I dont like it very much
I think its a case where with good visual design a player might be motivated to get good so they can be stylish with the MC.
The problem is Penny's design borderline nightmare fuel and people don't care to learn the game mechanics and play stylishly with that art direction
I don't mind penny's aesthetic but the controls are too finicky and it's purely a speedrunner "keep playing the level to improve your time and get a perfect combo" autism style game because the levels aren't actually interesting to just navigate or play through and only become remotely hard when you force yourself to do them in one combo

I didn't know this when I played it. I quite liked it, but once I realized what type of "people" it attracted it retroactively made me like the game less.

This is why the market is full with slop.
Evening Star is hiring for staff on their new project and look at what /v/ did. Now they're for an artist specializing in anime shit. I thought Penny's design was fine aside from those ugly dimples sitting on her eyelids. Anime designs at an indie level typical look like faux anime weeb slop and can be more derivative or safe than scrimblo design. I just hope they improve on their mistakes this time.

not a fan outside of the character being cute. I like the Jett Rocket games though if we're talking indy 3d platformers. They're only on wii ware and 3ds eshop so you can't buy them anymore but they're pretty easy to pirate if you want to check them out.

Is it one of those games where the level design is really simple but you have like a gazillion moves bugs and speedrunning tricks to skip 80% of said level?
>>717389557
NOBODY played your shitty, which is why Evening Star almost went bankrupt and had to survive by joining the layoff wave. Penisfags do NOT want you to remember this.

I tried getting into it but it was just unfun. Like "Sonic 3D Blast" level miserable to play for me. I prefer Tacklebox, Corn Kidz 64, and Pseudoregalia.
