The updated CRT filter on Nintendo Switch 2 Online wipes the floor with anything available on emulation. Is this Nintendo Magic? Why can't anyone compete?

why would anyone voluntarely filter their screen with this shit?
all filters disabled is the best option always

it's nice to see nintendo actually trying to make their emulation suite better even if the selection is still absolutely pathetic.

>NES/SNES CRT shader looks great on NSO
>N64 and Gamecube are just some shittily overlayed scanlines
>N64 doesn't even have its internal res downscaled either, it's just 1080p video with some shitty scanlines (idk about GCN, haven't tested it much)

Because the SNES didn't have razor sharp pixels.
>b-but RGB
it was removed from revisions like the SNES/SFC Jr. and it breaks dithering effects.

You have way more options with emulators, plus the fact you can actually download more of them if you want.

I am fully 100% aware that this is bait, but...retroarch has about dozen of good crt and scanline filters, and if pixelation isn't your thing, and you want smooth eye popping visuals, there's good looking upscale filters like xbrz (the higher number the better) and scalefx. There's a reason that nintendo's so aggressive with lawyers trying to get superior experiences of their own games off the internet, and lobbies for internet ID/regulation

Looks like one of the basic presets in Retroarch. It isn't event emulating the cable signal distortion which is a crucial part to achieving the authentic look of old games.

How are SNES games on Switch 2? I hear the Gamecube games have horrible lag but I noticed the N64 games got better. Debating whether I should play DKC on my Switch or my hacked 3DS.
Anonymous No.717393567 >>717393681
You can buy a crt for less than renting a crt filter for a year
Anonymous No.717393586
>>717393164
Switch already has bad input lag when it comes to native games, worse than switch 1 and MUCH worse than switch oled. I wouldn't get your hopes up for emulation, it's all downhill from there.
Anonymous No.717393681

If nintendo could make crts illegal and sue every CRT owner, they would. That low input lag is threatening to their bottom line, brand image, and share holders mental well-being

N64 does have its res downscaled actually which creates AA, but the result is far from the iconic N64 blur and is too clean. Ideally I really think they should go all in with all the hardware quirks, if someone wants a clean image then they shouldn't be using a CRT filter to begin with.

Anon thats not how filters work, retard. You cannot have the best filter on a switch, certainly not in hanheld mode you dumbass, its physically restricted by the resolution.

A real CRT shader would absolutely cripple the Shitch 2. It wouldn't even be able to load Mega Bezel without imploding completely.

>all this work emuloids have to do to imitate a fraction of the OG hardware experience
Lol. Reminder that if you emulated it, you didn't really play the game. In all fairness though, the switch filter looks a lot better than most CRT filters.
