For you, I would suggest a bottle of Angry Orchard whenever you go to a restaurant. It's like apple juice. Some cocktails can also be delicious but some have stronger alcohol tastes than others so it can be hit or miss. But just because you dislike dstraight vodka doesn't mean you can't enjoy alcohol.

You should dilute whisky if you're going to sip it. The distiller does when they distribute from the casks. It's round 60% then, too strong to taste much over the burn of alcohol. Diluting it further to with a little ice, soda or water can only help unless you personally like the burn, which has nothing to do with flavors gained from the aging process.
