I hate screwing with trade routes in this game. I found out if you simply don't buy the trade route upgrade 'dim square level 1' they never actually show up as queen's orders.
am I fucking myself over in the long run for later difficulties?

it would always give me these very early missions to fulfill like 8 trade orders at a point where I cannot even feed myself let alone set aside a ton of resources to make packs with the basic makeshift post

I am simply too much of a brainlet for this game, I can only ever barely win on easy and anything above is failure. I don't even know how trade routes are so OP as I can't even get anything out of them.

Youre not supposed to be instantly filling the orders anon, more queen impatience = less forest hostility
Only fill them when you want new shit and can take the hostility hit

Trade routes are a really efficient way to earn cash, especially with resources you have an excess of and arenβt really using, plus there are some perks that give them even more benefits.

Everything you get is random, from the supplies newcomers bring with them, to the resource nodes that spawn in clearings, to the ruins you can find, to the rewards you can get from filling orders
You will have shit you can't use and you will have too much of shit you can use, which makes it a waste
Trade routes let you dump all your wasted and useless shit for cash or trade it for other things you need.
The more you trade, the more rewards you get from trading
The more you level up from playing, the more trade routes are possible

yes trade is important since its your main way to get money and buying stuff from traveling merchants is a key way to plug up holes in your build, and you can get way more money selling through trade routes then directly to a merchant. Buying/Selling also plays into some of the strongest cornerstones in the game like trade hub and protected trade. If your struggling with trade just remember you want to take deals that will boost your trade relationships early on so you can get more lucrative deals later. Also if something is at a good rate and you have a lot of it you can multiply the deal up to 5 times. If supply packs are whats giving you problems consider grabbing the plantation for easy berries, but if thats not an option once you get consumption control just forbid one type of item that you want to make the packs out of so your villagers dont eat them. Tightened harness is an easy cornerstone grab since it reduces the amount of supply packs for a trade by 1 even reducing it to 0, and 0 multiplied by 5 is still 0 so you can get some crazy good value out of what would be mediocre trade deals.
