That ship had everything and I was still optimizing the layout with segmented composite armor and a greater emphasis on autocannons and missile spam. With a squadron of railgun toting fighters for sniping out their engines from behind. The only positive from these rolling updates is eventually boarding actions and actual strikecraft will become a thing eventually. The current update leaves much to be desired since you have to redo everything for the heat management so you don't set fire to your shit mid battle.

X4 does a much better job of that, it is multi-threaded to an extent. But because they are accurately simulating the entire economy, every space ship, and station modules (and every projective in the local player system) there's a whole bunch of technical limitations to synchronise all the real-time events. So it's still CPU bound.
