It's a tough pick but I really liked that it focused on level design and exploration for a change. Nobody cared about the bossfights in DaS1 besides O&S. Artorias was a mistake.

Really good game but there are just too few weapon types and too few weapons within those types. Longsword and spear feel too similar as well, with Spear feeling like a worse LS all around with less mobitlity, less stagger and way more animation commitment for less dmg.

Loved that the first boss was a real boss pretty hard too

The exploration is very good for me, as i'm the kind of person whose only needed reward is some experience for my troubles and cool roads and enemies. But what I've found surprisingly engaging is the plot and setting.
The plot with all the Buddhist themes took me by surprise, and I love how the setting goes from grimdark feudal China to straight up horror.

i definitely have modern souls/soulslike fatigue

going back to dark soul/demons souls feels like vacation. it didn't use to be all about boss fights with 100 different moves and fakeouts, AOE spam and infinite poise.

the difference between the regular exploration and the boss fights is so stark in modern titles that i dread every new boss encounter

Its just not fun to learn boss fights in new titles because of the insane damage they dish out.

Idk, but last time i checked couple months ago he was gone along with lots of other enemies in the game (ie. the knight guy boss in the foggy green mountain area).

Apparently the only way to get them back is to enable "increased enemy density" modifier before starting the playthrough lol

This, PBZ is more of an action/hack and slash than a souls-like.
It feels like it's not an "interactive" parry, but a "hold the button to parry everything" parry.

It looks super cool though, I hope it plays good too, I'm just a bit worried about the fights being potentially too scripted.

The game isn't even that hard. Meanwhile, in ER, you don't play your build at all against most bosses, it's just "dodge until there is 1 opportunity to hit back, but try to play your character and you're dead"

Yeah you mean literally. These games never had any challenge, besides the dlc bosses in Dark Souls and some of the endgame bosses in DeS.
I would even say that they were mostly boring overrated games. The problem with later souls by From isn't that the bosses got obnoxious and unfair but rather the gameplay simply did not gie you the tools to deal with them. But Sekiro did, Bloodborne did, Nioh did, SoP did, and now Wuchang does. Oh and Armored Core 6 definitely did too (it's not souls but they did focus on making strong bosses and it has none of the issue Elden Ring did)

Now Wuchang so far I find hardly perfect because most mobs are sadly a joke right now and that doesn't feel right but at least the levels are great and the bosses are a fun and tough time.

Even False Allant is a total joke by modern Souls standards, guy takes 3 business days to do anything and was clearly designed with assumption the player is a drooling subhuman standing there trying to shieldtank

it used to be that getting to the boss was more difficult than fighting most of the bosses. the boss was there to give more tension after adventuring for a long time and fearing the run back.

this got turned on its head nowadays and levels are a cakewalk and bosses the big walls
