any consequences for wizard murder in this game? like do you get bad wizard rep, or do you have to atone for it in some way? or is it just like, great job you won that battle

It's the latter, because you can only kill evil wizards and it was set in like the 1890s so the law is still not that strict and killing evil wizards get you a pat in the back

tsh, lame. so many games do this thing where they want to thematize killing enemies as murder but don't actually want to make the player feel like a murderer who has lost the world's trust

not unless there were secret, interesting things to do that you can only do once you've abandoned morality. think genocide route type stuff in undertale. we need more games to make gameplay consequences and routes for the moral choices they present and thematize without actually enforcing

The spell where you slam them into the dirt several times at breakneck speeds still seems a bit worse than just an instant-kill spell to be honest.

>AVADA KEDAVRA!
This overpowered spell represents everything that is wrong with the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises. Seriously each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>a-at least the books were good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

How do they always fuck it up. God I hate the modern developer. Always taking the magic out of the medium and producing a mediocre turd of a game enjoyable only by the lowest common denominator with sub zero standards.

Like how half the villains are just people everyone knew was evil but they got pardoned anyway because they were useful / had political connections / pretended like they were unduly influenced, etc and then at the end of Harry Potter as soon as they see Voldy is going to lose (because Harry revives) they just bail. Honestly better, more realistic, villains than most gameslop.

The other 'good' NPCs follow you around on quests and don't comment on you killing everyone in your path using unforgivable curses in any way. Having said that, why is an unforgivable curse any different from lifting a guy into the air and smashing him into the ground repeatedly until he's a pulp?

Creates. You need incantation, magic lower, wand motion, and intent. Snape is one of the smartest character in the book because aside from being a master potioneer he made a fuckton of spell while he was still in school. Most famous are sectumsempra (dark magic invisible blade spell) and levicorpus (levitate your target and move them however you want).

Yates is a hack who only did TV shows before becoming the director of the biggest film franchise at the time. In his movies, the acting is always very stiff, the actors are just kinda standing awkwardly in every scene, the framing is usually very bad and the excessive color grading, which started with the 5th film, is just awful. God knows how he got the job and even more weirdly how he stayed on for so long compared to previous directors.

Because magical medicine can fix a guy that's been smashed into pulp with month of bed rest (provided he's still breathing). It can't fix a killing curse.

There's also some plausible deniability if you kill someone through levitation. You don't accidentally use a killing curse.
