I have a few questions about the steam deck.
1. I like to watch videos or anime while playing games. Is it possible or how easy is it to play games in windowed mode while playing another video on the side?
2. Is it capable of running two games at once? Like through two different emulators?
3. Can you connect external controllers to it? Through usb or blue tooth or both? How many?
4. Can you connect it to ethernet? or use a usb ethernet adapter?
5. Does it charge solely through usb or do you need a standard power plug at all times?
6. Can you use it as a drawing tablet? Can you simply connect an external drawing table to it?
7. Is the graphics card powerful enough to generate ai images?
8. Can it run game engines or 3d modeling or 3d sculpting software no problem?
9. How heavy is it and/or how easy is it to prop up or place on something to work just as a screen like a phone or tablet would?
10. Hows memory management? cloud, usb, sd cards etc,
11. Can it receive and play notifications? What about while locked or sleeping?
12. Can it connect to LTE?
13. Can it play audio from the speakers and through headphones at the same time? Can you mix different sources? Could it connect to two different headphones to play different audio sources for each?
14. What is the batter life like and are there low power modes? How bad are the trade offs?
15. Can it run android apps?
16. How good is ps3 emulation? what about ps4?
17. Is it even touch screen?
I'll probably have more questions but I'll post them when I think of them. Feel free to discuss the deck in general.

>I want to do shit in windowed mode
There's a whole desktop for that It works pretty well but you will lose (a very small amount of performance since plasma doesn't use up too much space)
>Can you run more than one game
It's not advisable, but you can in Game mode too.
>Can you connect external controllers to it
Yes
>Through USB or Bluetooth or both
Both
>How many
I've had 8 ps4 controllers connected before connection started dropping out on bluetooth
>Can you connect through ethernet
Yes through the dock or through an adapter
>Does it charge through USB
It can, use a charger that can do USB-C PD and at least 45W
>Can you use it as a drawing tablet
Yes
>Can you connect an external drawing tablet to it
Also yes
>Should I kill myself
Yes
>Can it run game engines/3D/Modeling
I wouldn't do full quality renders on it, but I have done modeling work on it
>How heavy is it
Not very
>Hows memory
It's a computer
>Can you get notifica
Yes
>Can you connect it to LTE
Depends on your wireless carrier, but yes.
>Can you play audio through both the speakers and headphones
Yes even though I can't think of a usecase for this
>Hows the battery life
Pretty good for vidya
>Powersaving mode
Depends entirely on the game, first thing that goes is bluetooth performance
>Can it run android apps
Yes
>How good is ps3/ps4 emulation
Unrelated to hardware generally, it's immature software
>Is it touch screen
Yes

>>Can you use it as a drawing tablet
>Yes
Whats the pen used for it then?
>Can you get notifica
>Yes
Like the screen can be off, its in a low power state and still makes a noise? Or you mean it just gets notifications when on like normal?
>Depends on your wireless carrier, but yes.
So how do you set it up? You insert a sim card or something? Or it needs esim?
>Hows the battery life
>Pretty good for vidya
Like what? 4 hours playing ps2 games?
>Can it run android apps
>Yes
Through virtualization or an actual compatibility layer? Also how do stuff like regions and phone numbers work for some apps?
>How good is ps3/ps4 emulation
>Unrelated to hardware generally, it's immature software
Its already good enough to complete full games. What I want to know is if the power is there.

Any capacitive touch screen pen
Yes the screen can be off and you can still receive notifications and get sounds for them, if you turn off the device obviously no, there's no notifications

>1. I like to watch videos or anime while playing games. Is it possible or how easy is it to play games in windowed mode while playing another video on the side?
No
>2. Is it capable of running two games at once? Like through two different emulators?
Probably, depends on the emulator
>3. Can you connect external controllers to it? Through usb or blue tooth or both? How many?
Yes. Probably up to 4 or 8.
>4. Can you connect it to ethernet? or use a usb ethernet adapter?
Probably. USB-C to Ethernet might work.
>5. Does it charge solely through usb or do you need a standard power plug at all times?
A single USB-C is the only way to charge it.
>6. Can you use it as a drawing tablet? Can you simply connect an external drawing table to it?
If you can plug it in via USB-C and download the drivers, then yes
>7. Is the graphics card powerful enough to generate ai images?
It would take forever. Do not recommend.
>8. Can it run game engines or 3d modeling or 3d sculpting software no problem?
Yes. I bet Blender would work great on it.
>9. How heavy is it and/or how easy is it to prop up or place on something to work just as a screen like a phone or tablet would?
It's not heavy, but it is pretty large for a handheld console
>10. Hows memory management? cloud, usb, sd cards etc,
I bought the cheapest one with only 64gb of space or so. I got a 256gb micro SD card to install games on and it runs the games just fine on
>11. Can it receive and play notifications? What about while locked or sleeping?
Yes
>12. Can it connect to LTE?
Dunno what that is
>13. Can it play audio from the speakers and through headphones at the same time? Can you mix different sources? Could it connect to two different headphones to play different audio sources for each?
No
>14. What is the batter life like and are there low power modes? How bad are the trade offs?
2 - 6 hours
>15. Can it run android apps?
Yes
16. How good is ps3 emulation? what about ps4?
Dream on
17. Is it even touch screen?
Yes

Even fucking phones now are running AAA games this is supposed to be a dedicated gaming device. They should have just gone with a yearly release schedule and premium or luxury lines. At this point companies like lenovo and asus are gonna eat up the space. Especially with asus getting an xbox partnership.

Newer handheld pcs have a thunderbolt port essentially making them "futureproof" as home console. Would have been a lot better if steam deck launched with one of these things but I guess thats what iteration is for.

The Steam Deck is good. Better than gaming laptops which are heavy and expensive pieces of shit. For the price of one gaming laptop you can get 2 PC gaming handhelds and a (real) business laptop.
>but what about the more powerful ziprogbox
I don't want this power draining heavy piece of shit brick where I have to do a song and dance to install a usable OS on it to be able to play games in peace, imagine being this heavy and large and still not manage to put a single trackpad anywhere holy fuck. No I don't want to use a PC without trackpads, go fuck yourself.

Give me the Steam Deck 2 already, I wanna play GTA6 on the toilet

The main "exclusive" of the Deck is being able to install whatever software you want without doing a stupid and pointless jailbreak humiliation ritual in order to uncuck your hardware that you should rightfully own. Can't say the same for the Shitch- sorry, I mean the Switch 2.

Ok, here's a fact for you. Steam Deck is LITERALLY designed for playing PC games thanks to the trackpads, back buttons, capacitive joysticks and Steam Input. Wanna know why? Because the left trackpad can be used for hotkeys, the back buttons are also used for hotkeys, the capacitive joysticks can be used for gyro activation, and Steam Input makes it piss easy to set it all up.

Sorry but very few people do this shit. Playing games like rollercoaster tycoon, AOE etc are fucking trash on this piece of shit. NTA but when I'm on the couch (my main desktop is in my office on the other side of the house), in hotels, or in general just want an experience where I can sit back and play something without needing a tv or desktop monitor.
If you never travel, or live in a studio where you sleep where you game anyway, I can't really see the use of a Steam Deck. Everyone has different needs after all.

Valve literally does not give a shit. They wanted to spur on competition. Anyone buying a PC handheld is going to be using Steam. All Valve wants as a bonus is to get SteamOS onto these other devices. If these devices are actually good enough then Valve would have no reason to make the Deck. They're not in this for the hardware.
