If they're gonna bother releasing a DLC nearly 20 years later, at least they could do the bare effort of addressing the biggest most obvious problems of the game design. That being the tedium of Insane mode only adding max HP and the really lacking forms of magic for unlockable characters (you get arrow rain, you get arrow rain, everyone gets ARROW RAIN!) that should be replaced with more unique magic types.

Do you have to download and install different models individually or can you create packs to do full swaps?

I assume the slot system is set up the way it is just so you can coordinate with friends when playing online and make sure the character everyone is using is assigned to the same slot and therefore looks the same on your version of the game.
It would be nice if it just automatically downloaded whatever mods you use but then I guess you'd be stuck with whatever klansman/trans pride shit the other person may happen to be using.
That said, what happens when someone is playing a character on a slot you don't even have assigned?

I have made some attempts at very rudimentary doodles of the core concepts and they have been rather pathetic. Wanted to make sort of a crow themed knight. A metal helmet that looks like a bird mask, a jerkin with a feather collar (the mask was supposed to be adorned with feathers as well), a parrying dagger with "swordbreaker" notches instead of a shield because I thought that'd be entertainingly unusual, and a beefy form that's sort of supposed to look like a beast form shapeshift into a roided bird, hence an attempt to turn the beefy fingers into sharp feathers.

1) Rather terrible. That scarf under the bird mask doesn't even look like cloth, it looks like 3 extra chins. I can't even begin to wrap my head around how to properly draw the feather cowl for the helmet and the feather collar for the jerkin. Those beefy arms look nothing like wings. Plus, as you might be able to extrapolate from my literal MSPaint tier linework, I'm entirely, 100.05% incapable of shading.
I think the fundamental ideas I have are nice and creative, but my hands won't do them justice.

1. It actually revived the beat em up genre since at that point in time it was pretty much dead
2. It was one of the first actually really good and not just shilled good XBLA games at the time
3. It was very cheap
4. It had a colorful fun artstyle with wacky funny humor and characters
5. You could play it with your friends
6. The gameplay was obviously good enough to get people hooked on it for awhile
7. As someone earlier said, it came at the peak of Newgrounds popularity
8. It was a great alternative game from all the military themed FPS and cinematic games that were beyond dominating the industry at the time

Its very easy to see why this game succeeded. Just because you think its shit doesn't mean it is. That is just your shitty opinion. This game was hands down one of the greatest buys I ever did back in the day off any of these online stores at the time and all of my friends easily saw the entertainment value in the game.
