There’s no right answer. The official translation is based on the censored version, and has a rushed translation with editing errors. The fan patch is uncensored and edited better, but has an overall shittier translation that localized it too much.
There’s nothing different about the Steam version in particular. It’s just patch vs no patch.

The only thing good about it is the lack of censorship and the bug fixes that make the skip work without babysitting. Their translation is frankly poor, amateurish work. All the “YOU MUST USE THE PATCH” posts whenever this game comes up feel like shilling. There’s a reason to go with either. Not being an EOP is the only golden option here.
