It makes it so you don't instantly gain speed from certain actions meaning you have to fall from higher and it won't latch you onto stuff as easily forcing you to be a bit closer to buildings or objects. It's definitely better than the default settings and it's noticeable if you've just played 1 or Miles beforehand for any length of time because webs that would have connected in those games just don't when you turn it off.

The only downside is it feels a bit weird and sometimes you fling yourself into walls whereas it would have course-corrected you avoiding rooftops (Something they mentioned was a common occurrence during their GDC talk about 1 and why they even had it enabled).

This is just the reality of AAA development in the west. Design by committee, nobody has any real power, not even the directors. These games feel bland and uninspired because there isn't allowed to be a coherent vision for it, and more often than not they are a hodgepodge of different games that were trying to be different things, but have to come out anyways.

The budgets are massive, and they need to make their money back or else heads will roll.

In the east, budgets are smaller, devs can't be laid off, and directors have full creative control over their projects -- which is why you get janky and weird rather than bland and boring.

That's what's so frustrating because the gameplay is great even if we lost some of the gadgets and stealth became completely broken with the web lines. It's the story being rushed and the awful redesigns for characters that are baffling. It's like all the game designers at Insomniac are dragging everyone else along kicking and screaming. Even R&C has Ratchet becoming more of a boy scout than he ever was and they can't stop reusing weapons from older games but they constantly keep improving gameplay flow and how everything feels to the point that ever since ItN they've had such a solid foundation and it was so good in RA.

Have you not watched any of the movies? Homecoming is him learning that he has to start relying on himself and his own values instead of being Stark's attack dog. Peter in the MCU specifically uses Tony as his pseudo Uncle Ben even if he already had the Uncle Ben upbringing. Sure, he continues to use Tony's technology for FFH, IW, and NWH, but he's constantly modifying what he's given, hacking it, or circumventing it to do things he wants.

NWH is him using the AI from Stark but by the end of it he loses it all because it can't recognize him anymore.
From this point forward he has no Stark Tech unless he actively reveals what happened to Pepper or Happy which he actively doesn't as shown by his discussion with Happy at May's grave. He had to make his own new suit and technology.

I don't get why this setup angle is frustrating to you. What's wrong with it? Peter is actively shown tinkering with everything, why wouldn't he be using Tony's technology when it's readily available to him and way above his pay grade?
