Thanks, but whichever one I pick will be the "wrong distro". I'll just get W11 when I get a new computer, disable all telemetry and boat like I did with 10 and be done with it.

whats the point of linux gaming distros instead of using the actually established ones with proper dev team and actual software support
like Fedora or Debian

In theory yes, in reality mass migration will just lead to a flood of major security breaches
Also the vast majority of shit simply doesnt run and the devs dont care because no market share

Lmao no, want something lightweight? Mint. (Still good for gaming regardless).
Wanna something mac os looking? Pop os or zorin, 8gb recommended.
Have a toaster from 2014? Xubuntu or lubuntu.
Wanna something that looks like windows but it's better, faster, more powerful and doesn't spy on you? Mint again.
Want le epin gaming os? Bazzite.
You are still free to change whenever.
Mint is lightweight but by no means not powerful and even on a high end machine is just perfect and can run games without any issue (unless the dev is a peculiar cunt, but still there are workarounds since even elden ring launched on linux.
Besides, the only games that don't run or linux are utter trash like valorant or fortnite.

Eh, I think gaming distros are more optimized, mint and pop os can run games swimmingly with 0 issues.

You can dual boot and take as much time as you want Anon, you don't have to do everything in one day or week you know.
If you think Linux will be better for you, of course.

You don't really have to learn much, you can be perfectly fine without ever touching the terminal, and even in that case, the terminal is there for you, unlike windows it's linux that serves you and not you that serves windows.

I've done some dualboots in the past and they were always a pain in the butt but maybe that was a skill issue on my part or things being more difficult back in the day

>>717443690
true but I meant it more like having to go through all the stuff that would be lost if I wiped my windows drive there's just so much and I've always forgotten something when I've reinstalled windows in the past

Linux these days is pretty much mac os easier than windows but without the cock cage, vaxx needle in the arm and plate full of stir-fried bugs (not kosher, sorry).
It's a better, faster, ligher, more powerful os than any of the competition and doesn't spy on you.

bullshit. i installed linux mint just a couple days ago and i was in the terminal constantly. startx, xrandr this, xrandr that, cinnamon --replace &, then installing pipewire, creating a script to force my monitors to STAY in mirror mode since it kept resetting for no reason after a couple hours, sudo shutdown now (UI wasn't working). just one problem after another.

dual boot is a joke, if the new OS is such a compromise that you constantly have to switch back you might as well not bother

Fucking this.
The only reason that Linux is secure at the moment is because its market share is so incredibly low. But the moment market share gets to the point that every other person uses Linux, then its safety will drop dramatically as it becomes a viable target.
>B-But open sour-
That "security" is pretty much theoretical since Linux has only suffered like... three whole direct attacks in its entire existence? Also most people are HORRIBLE when it comes to reporting problems, not to mention the culture shift in open source development. The sudden flood of Linux-directed malware and exploits would be catastrophic for the developers of Linux and every single distro.

Yes, because cleanup utilities have never existed for windows/mac to help deal with the fact that the folder you pick is only 90% of the files it installs. The rest go to random static locations and never get cleaned up by the uninstaller. Windows at least thought about having overlay file systems where every shitty program could "write" to program files and Documents but each would only be able to see its own layer and couldn't overwrite each other's files. But they abandoned that, like every other good idea they had because it upset Adobe or some other overweight gorilla of a company.
