You install mods as you play, but unfortunately I agree with you. The modding scene is so expansive that if you're already aware of where to start or using someone's mod guide then it takes forever.

I do; and I've hit a odd point where I add in so many content mods that I discover a location and not sure if it's in the base game/DLC or from a mod. It's a good feeling.
