I can't get excited for video games any more. I've been playing since the 90's and the well's been so poisoned now that no amount of hype, videos, marketing, etc. can get me excited.
All I got left is a wait and see attitude and even then it's no longer enough to get me to buy a game day 1.

You people are retarded queuing up now. EA is going to sever all connections at noon tomorrow, push the beta-release build to servers, and bring them back up sequentially, which takes about an hour. Then at 1PM when it is about to start they're going to shed load again (sever connections) before you can connect at 1PM-ish. So your position in the queue is meaningless. Why do you think the server-side content on the main menu is missing things? Because when you connect tomorrow you'll get a small bin and json containing the updated playlist and uncomment out the restricted places in the game, it will authenticate the signature on your build and once those small files are there it will match the newly booted up server-side build and allow you to authenticate/connect.

tl;dr there is literally zero point to queuing up until it goes live. This is what I do for a living. But feel free to waste your time anons.

Yeah Frostbite is like a breath of fresh air. It always runs better than you think it would. The only thing about it is that it can get really CPU heavy the more players join the match, CPU bottleneck was usually my problem for BF1 and BF5. But now my CPU is overkill for it. It should be easy to drop video settings unless they truly fuck up the optimization. I believe in Frostbite though.

Yes. It was pretty rough in the January Alpha test but ran OK on my 3090. Everything is final and there is no performance monitoring/debugger/telemetry software running on all the game processes for this beta. Should be very smooth based on what I've seen from the much older build of the game at last week's event. The real question is will the servers run well? The event last week was running from the event over two dedicated Lumen 10Gb fiber connections to the nearest datacenter where EA has rackspace rented and not many people were invited. Tomorrow we'll be global and who knows how prepared they are to balance load and if QoS is setup right. And will they use the 45Hz server setup from the event (ew) or will we get 60Hz for the beta tomorrow (most likely not, but who knows, it is suppose to be a test of the final build so hopefully 60Hz tickrate)? Doubtful they'll be offering up 120Hz servers until a couple months after launch when load stabilizes and the players that decide to stay settle in, if ever (most likely never).

Maybe if it comes out and it's literally one of the best shooters of all time, then I'll play it. CPU heavy but it actually uses the whole CPU is OK. CPU heavy but it uses one or a handful of cores is a nightmare. Frostbite with DX12/Vulkan is usually good at using the whole thing I think. Same with other modern engines like RAGE and have to give credit to UE5 that they at least use all your cores/threads.

Zoomie detected. BF1 was tolerable mostly because they really honed in on the "first person experience." Mechanically it was cringe and everyone being black was cringe. Really pretty tho and had a campaign. The last good Battlefield was 3, and this is clearly an attempt at going back to 3 and 4 (hopefully more 3 than 4 which was the beginning of the end with unlocked class weapons and an emphasis on perks). yeah, its basically an upgraded 2042 engine but they completely redid the guns and movement mechanics. fixed the bullshit mouse input and the maps play very differently than past bf games. the urban warfare maps play more like insurgency with tight angles n what not. Haven't played any of the trad big and open bf maps yet because they weren't in labs. so jury is still out on that. apparently the helis and planes feel like shit.

naw, too much cod-like arcade shooter. prefer slower pace/bigger maps w/ realistic damage. jumping around, suicide run n gun is much better in a game like halo or quake/unreal.

I'm pretty sure it's just effects applied to the same squad VOIP so it sounds like the voice is coming from where they are in game rather than just normal VOIP. You still won't be able to talk to people outside your squad.
