The game doesn't need romance. Its really fun and has a cool setting. Romance in Persona is like a small cutscene and that's it. I don't know why people are obssessed with it as if thats all these games have to offer. Also, SMT > Metaphor > Persona.

I like Hulkenburg and yet have no romantic interest in any Metaphor girl. My current thing is imaging Makoto Nijima has a college intern at a office job and we bond over break and I get her to play Clubhouse games with me despite me being nearly twice her age.

Yep, the characters in Metaphor are inherently more interesting to me because they aren't teenagers with infantile views about the world. The game has excellent world building through the social links, and I really hope Metaphor gets expanded upon with sequels and the like

That's not exactly how I feel, but I get what you mean. I'm not a fan of the MC dick sucking these games usually portray. Will has enough of a personality in the story that they manage to avoid my self isertion issues. But yeah, its nice to see flourishing healthy adult relationships.

I think the best system would be to sell each character romance as separate DLC. And you can buy them upfront or if you don't buy them, but advance the social link to some point the price is doubled.

I feel they didn’t bother as there seems to be a clear canon choice in Eupha even if they didn’t 100% confirm it and still keep teases with everyone else.

The thing is it didn't benefit the story having the absence of intimate relations with characters, all of the side content with characters that had their formulaic arcs more or less rounded up in the usual spinning plate affair Atlus treats their side characters like, eventually get three or so scenes of doing absolutely fucking nothing but stating and addressing the obvious like how they move on or get by with their lives. The far superior character arcs in story telling ultimately came from characters addressed in the central plot like Heismay, Eupha and Louis.

Metaphor was fine as an experiment into doing something different, but they should never have gimped what they could have followed through on under regular circumstances. Especially when they're just going to do so little with the scenes in the end.

Eupha is probably the closest. She confesses her feelings in the way her culture does her. Traveling Boy has dialogue options that indicate he feels the same. She gives him a charm that wives give their husbands before they go out to sea.
