Also when they put in clear easy modes like infinite buyable life gems, greatshield available like 20 minutes into the game, the Tseldora set and covertous silver ring+1, the brightbugs, the rapier, the mace, the early hexes and sorceries etc

You literally had easy mode within the first hour

I still remember my first build with tower shield, cryptblack spear, hexes and being likel evel 80 after the second Old Soul

I think it was about the time i was getting owned by ruin sentinels for like hours. Losing my hp, exhausting all my human effigy's and just feeling super stressed out. And then just going and exploring other areas and realizing how big this game is and how much you can do.

I don't know what cunts that always complain about magic are harping about
I decided to do a melee run for the first time and Shields are vastly easier than magic in all ways possible, you don't even need to poke since bosses actually still have openings in DS2 after they finish their combos so you can easily block + attack at the end of it

I prefer scholar over DS2. But I don't like how they ruined majula and heide with the brightness. Majula in DS2 looks fine but in scholar they made it look like there's a atom bomb going on

I remember being hyped for DS2 after enjoying DeS and DS1 so much, but somewhere around the rat-dog fight I'd had enough of "bosses with extremely basic movesets who are annoying because they have multiple adds" as the norm. Capra Demon was interesting in DS1 because he was the exception. So many bosses being Capra Demon was just boring and exhausting. I don't know maybe I just got filtered.

They stupidly overhauled the graphics engine like 2 weeks before the game came out. It was supposed to be a darker and more atmospheric game at one point. The early game play reveal we saw of it looked amazing. I wonder if that previous build of the game exists somewhere on some hard drive.

Honestly, yeah. DeS aged way more gracefully than DS1, especially if you’re playing the OG versions. DS1 has that muddy look, jank animations, and Blighttown framerate nightmares, while DeS still has that weird ethereal PS3 charm. DS1 wins in level design and world cohesion, but in terms of pure visuals? Demon's takes it.

I didn't care for dark souls 2 when I preordered and picked it up at midnight, I played it all the way through, and had fun, a lot of fun at iron keep, but it never quite hit me with the same pleasure that the first did, it was more in line with demons souls.

My last playthrough was in 2019. I started to play again and ive come to the conclusion that soul memory has ruined multiplayer for this game as its gotten older... Too many people stretched out among too many factors to play with others
