Seeing how many probably didn't even realize they had secure boot on already + people suddenly complaining while other games already were requiring secure boot is eye opening to how the memes about /v/?not playing games as being legit.
Requirements for tpm 2.0 for next cod game and the kernel shit on this are way bigger issues.

Part of me is waiting on the crowd saying they will move to Linux over secure boot/tpm2.0 just for them to realize the hoops they have to go through still just to run anything. Steam deck made things easier but if opening bios is too difficult I doubt they could even install windows or Ubuntu without a pre builder doing it for them.

>>717469454
Ironically, neither does half of PC gamers apparently. TPM has been pushed for like 4 years now. It's just NOW that EA is the one mandating it over MS (Win 11 requirements, which people are working around) suddenly it's a problem and people go "I'M ONLY SIXTEEN! I'M ONLY SIXTEEN!" to it.

Linux ironically enough WILL run on TPM + Secure Boot **AFTER** the install, depending on the Distro. Arch, for example, has the ability AFTER installing it to have SecureBoot enabled.

If EA supported Linux, this would still be a requirement for Battlefield's newest entry on there, and they'd still whine and shit themselves even if Lutris did all the work for them. Ignoring the fact an update would break Lutris' scripts becuase those are all user maintained.

People are being stupid about this. Enable it or don't, but trying to logic it as "breaking my PC" is fucking stupid.

It doesn't do what it claims to do and actually does a lot of worse things you didn't even think of. The whole point of a PC is that it's not a locked down walled garden where one company (microsoft) can dictate what programs are "trusted" to run on your machine.

For certain definition of "server browser"
In other words - they have no server browser but they want you to think they do, so they just say "Uh, this Portal thing is kinda a server browser, so yeah, we have one!"

But in reality, no, there is no server browser

At this point, with every FPS game being infested with cheaters and russians, I'm down to do it if it means fewer ivans in my games

Got to do something to not end up like R6 Siege or Tarkov, worst thing they could do is do nothing and hope for a better result

I remember when the Cloudstrike outage was breaking in realtime
I got an email alert for a remote system connection and started looking into it, and when I discovered there was nothing to do I checked out /pol/ before heading to bed
And it was full of people reporting outages and crashed machines all over the place

Stayed up an extra 2 hours just reading about the carnage

This is the biggest midwit take ever.

Secureboot as a requirement for a game is fucking insane.

This precludes people dual booting Linux or another OS and people using different file systems. It means some people may have to flash/update their BIOS, and in some cases also update their OS or format their OS drive.

It's fucking retarded and you're a cuckold faggot if you defend it.

Fuck you.

>inb4 can't figure it out

It's not that I can't turn Secure boot on. I just don't care enough to bother doing it just to play Battlefield. There are hundreds of other games that don't require this to be enabled. They sure are cocky forcing this on consumers.
