Everyone glazed The Last of Us 1 like a doughnut when it first came out in 2013 and treated it as the best thing to grace the gaming community in years and encouraging people to buy a ps3 for that game alone (i recall snoys being particularly obnoxious during this era), then the second one came out and suddenly it became cool to question whether the first really deserved all the praise to begin with.

The real unsung heroes of the time were the reviewers who dared to give the game anything less than a 10/10. The snoys would seethe in every scenario.

the first game was actually fun, not amazing but I enjoyed it. I even replayed it cus it came with my ps4 when I got one, playing it on the hardest difficulty was pretty neat. Then the dlc was shit. I didn't play the second one.

I think it's an okay game, but the journo's overpraise on the story got so obnoxious over the years that I think people are starting to sneer at it. I believe the turning point was when some journo called TLoU2 a 'Schindler's List of gaming' when it came out and people were starting to really put off by it.

The game has a broken enemy and companion AI on the PS3 version. Just goes to show most gaymers dont care gameplay.

Also the E3 demo for this game was completely faked. It was Watch Dog's tier, but for someone reason no one gave a shit.

also the fact it's a retarded "revenge bad" story where you kill hundreds of men before coming to that conclusion

Nah, people were shaken by that opening but still on board for a well told revenge story. What was unforgivable was the switch to Abby and her thoroughly lame group of friends, not to mention her dumbass dad cast in a golden halo of light while reacuing stray zebras. Insultingly fucking stupid writing.

That never happened. TLoU2 actually made people appreciate the first game more.

Only the most /pol/-brained retards think TLoU1 is bad. Even if you don't care about the story or characters (which are both a simple concept executed exceptionally well), the survival action horror gameplay on Grounded is among the absolute best out there.

>broken enemy and companion AI on the PS3 version.
The fuck are you even talking about retard? Ellie doesn't trigger enemy response because the AI is not perfect and will occasionally be out of position. Obviously certain concessions are made for the sake of gameplay. It makes much more sense from a gameplay perspective to not punish the player for that which is out of their control. Unless you're just absolutely autistic about muh immersion, it's an extremely minor nitpick at worst.

TLOU 1 is a good game, great art direction, graphics were amazing for its time, gameplay while simple is satisfying thanks to the feedback you get when shooting or doing melee attacks or even sprinting, and the story is good with some likeable characters, even the cannibal possibly-pedo guy was creepy and enjoyable as a villain.

That said it's a game I struggled to replay despite recognizing its objective quality, it's one of those games which requires an unconditional love for movie games: if you like that genre, you'll love TLOU, if not, you're just gonna want to blow your cock off with a 12 gauge shotgun out of boredom.
There are some games which even if you replayed to hell and back you can get back to after some years and still enjoy, TLOU didn't feel like one of those cases to me, I replayed it a bunch of times and loved it when it first came out but having explored all the game had to offer back then I just couldn't bring myself to do it again some 3 months ago.
Long story short I've had my fix, it's a great game but I also wouldn't want to replay it

The PS3 version can barely manage 20 fps when there's anything on screen, shit gave me a headache when I first tried to play it. It's amazing what people put up with.

Archives are full of hate especially from PC mad shitters blowing their gaskets about a game they can't play.

They themselves call them interactive experiences rather thanovie games. Spiderman sitting on a bench for however long you choose wouldn't be a movie for example.
It's a good enough game to finish. But not to remember year's later. That's a 3 or 4 out of my book. It's an amazing piece of art to the tv show first time viewers compared to what they usually see. Probably where all this glazing comes from. Fucn noobs.

I played the first one for the first time early this year.
It's still amazing and looks and plays great even today (I played the OG version not the remaster) so I think back in 2013, when the best cinematic storytelling you could get was CoD, no wonder everyone creamed over it.

For me it was the very set-like atmosphere, in that you could only go exactly where the devs wanted you to go, i.e. a straight line with MAYBE one or two deviations that looped back to the main path. I remember getting blocked by some bush's branches sticking out.
With how much people praise its technology, they could have used a bit more care to make the world actually feel like a world instead of a mere backdrop for a movie with a subpar story.
The gameplay itself was also pretty boring and by the time I reached the university I just wanted it to end.
>oh look I am wandering through another corridor with totally not conveniently placed furniture that can be used as cover

Then again I only played on Hard or something like that because I looked up the difficulty levels before and anything beyond that didn't seem to affect the AI significantly, so maybe it would have been less boring playing on Grounded, but I really have no intention of replaying, or playing those DLC episodes, for that matter.

tlou is just a game that was lucky and obviously the undeniable high quality production
up until that time gaming still had the stigma for being slop for dumb teenagers, tlou with the grounded setting, complex themes and father-daughter dynamic of joel and ellie essentially made perfect center into the minds of retarded 35+ millennials that could relate to the story
not even uncharted was this bad because uncharted is simply like lara craft i.e. an action adventure game where you jump and shoot at people

tldr tlou cemented in the minds of normies that games had to focus on emotions and character, hence why they turned kratos into a sòyboy and then horizon and that each time they purchase a new playstation or playstation game on ps/pc they will get another season of their favourite soap drama
if you read the reviews most people praise the writing more than anything, the absolute fucking state of video GAMES

I still think it's a great game but it's a 9/10 game, not 10/10. But funnily enough Sony ruined this franchise as well with TLOU 2 and changing the TLOU 1 story in the remake
Anonymous No.717501531
I feel that the constant remasters of the game every gen and the remake made people tired of hearing it.
