Probably Dark Souls 2 at the local closest Gamestop. It was an awkward vivid memory because the cashier was a dude I had went to high school with (he was a grade above and we had both graduated like 6 years previously) plus I had my first name legally changed (no i'm not a fag) so it was probably weird for him lol a very short encounter because some racing game(?) came out the same day and that also had a lot of people standing in line.

I never understood why these midnight launches exist. Like, the store will open just for that game? What if you need a new controller? Why couldn't people just wait until 10am when most stores usually open.

I didn't know they still did that kind of thing in any store anywhere near me so I thought "hey, this could be fun, haven't done this in ages. And a special gift for the hundred first customers? That's a nice little bonus. I bet only about 25 people show up".
Turned out it was much more popular than I expected. Still surprised by that. It was a store in the middle of nowhere, literally surrounded by fields, and the place was packed. Some had brought kids in Korok masks, others had planted themselves in front of the shop for 5-6 hours. Didn't expect anything like that even for a game like TotK.
Didn't get the special gift, I was way too late for that. Had to take a cab home since it took much longer than expected and I missed the last bus by 30 minutes.
So yeah, I'm not doing that again for another 10-15 years.

Never went to the former. Wouldn't want to and even if I did the only thing that has ever been open at that time here was a coffee place and two pizza places, the first of which started closing at 11 during the Kung flu and never went back to it's 24/7 save xmas routine.

As for the latter, Brothership. Which was also the last game I bought. Too much shit has been going on since November.

Why do 4tranners love posting random shit and then adding the word game to the OP?

Switch 2 is the only console I've ever bothered to get day 1, and it was more I got up at 6AM and rolled down to the local Wal-Mart. No lines and no perks, in and out in 10 minutes
