DNF was more of a single ongoing project. They did start over with shit like engine changes, layoffs and Gearbox takeover, but it was mostly the same game worked by the same team. I don't think most iterations of BGaE2 that never game to be have much to do with each others beyond Ubisoft being a publisher.

Yeah, it's not clear what story they have in mind. It's been a while since I watched it, but iirc in the latest video they showed, Jade appears during an attack on PJ's ship. He recognizes her, but she's clearly "evil", which makes no sense, because according to the first game he saved her when she was a child and raised her without telling her the truth about her origins, she finds out only in BG&E. So it seems these devs had the insane idea of writing something like: PJ saves Jade -> he raises her until she is a teenager -> she suddenly turns evil (???) and leaves him -> he mets her again -> who knows what happens -> somehow she loses all memory of this -> BG&E1 starts with them living in Hyllis and raising orphans amid alien invasions. It makes no sense.

I am fully convinced this "game" only exists as an inhouse engine test. Considering how many times it got scrapped and restarted development. There is no product here, it doesn't exist. Even if it exists the only thing resembling beyond good and evil is the name. At this point you call it anything else and would not make a tangible difference.
