The problem with WoW design is that raidwide damage is constantly going out purely for the sake of keeping healers pressing their healing buttons. A vast majority of the time it's just as braindead as doing your DPS "rotation" as a healer in XIV and you don't really have to think until a damage spike happens which is comparable to mechanics happening in XIV. Healing is dogshit in both games. TERA established the standard for MMO healing 14 years ago. It's so good that every TERA private server has an abundance of healers and on retail it wasn't uncommon to see five man groups running dual healer comps.

I prefer xiv's healing model to wow's because it gives them a buffer to switch to full healing mode when needed for recovery and fixing mistakes. Their execution floor is extremely low when things are going right and you're just pressing your one dps skill, but their skill ceiling is also the highest in the game by far when shit goes wrong and you're in triage mode.

When the game is putting pressure on you it's fun but unfortunately a vast majority of the content does not do that. A vast majority of the content is so trivially simple to heal that popping an ability every now and then is all the healing you need. I can't recall a single healing mechanic in casual content that required any real thought for healers ever since Prey nine years ago against Cruise Chaser(note that this was when healers had their most complex DPS rotations as well.) That's how fucking bad things have gotten for healing. It's been getting easier and easier in all but high end content for nearly a decade.

i only played for a brief period a few years ago but in my limited experience, the dungeons were structured a lot like WOTLK wow dungeons where the goal was just to sprint from one end to the other, aggro'ing everything and AOE'ing it down before the bosses. and two of the four tanks had very strong self-healing to make this even easier to do. felt impossible to wipe outside of freak accidents and brain-fart mistakes.
