What’re you’re playing?
Anyone else glad that most modern AAA games suck? Finally have time to work on my backlog.

I really can’t stand the sole obsession of playing a single franchise. It’s zoomer logic. You should play games from a single time period. Like play all games from 2006 then 07 and so on. This is the boomer thread, start acting like the boomer you are and try to relive the past. It’s the least you could do. I have to stop at 2009. nothing is good from 2010 onward. Halo Reach sucked ass back then and it sucks ass now.

I wish crackdown and infamous would get faithful PC ports (I sold all my shit). I would it if games from that time period ran on PC and ran well on PC (and consistently had controller support) Until then, I’ll play pic related. Also Ass Creed 1 gives me a black screen on PC

Mafia will probably be mediocre but I'm looking forward to Cronos and hopefully it recaptures what made Dead Space 1 good.

for VR it was
>Fear 1
>trepang 2
recently. nothing like gung-fu in slow mo for maximum slaughter. its like starring in a john woo movie

other then that path of exile is good for listening to podcasts but doing something else in the mean time. The end game is really expansive in that thing

OSRS. It's one of the few games I can justify playing while splitting my attention or zoning out. Other things I would rather "play properly" so that I don't waste the time I do spend on them, but I rarely have the time or am in the mood to do that.

At first I was kind of sad that the rest of 2025 has nothing new that I want to play, but yeah - it is giving me time to actually go back and play / replay things I want instead.

I really should be using the time to focus more on drawing and painting instead, but it just feels wrong to not have at least one game on the go.

MW3 was the game where most of the Infinity Ward staff walked out after the founders were fired and Activision was refusing to payout bonuses due for MW2s success.

Started my first ever playthrough of FEAR last night. It's cool but it I have some issues. Biggest is there just little feedback for getting shot. Only the health/armour shit on the hub so I always have to look at it. I'm adjusting to it but I'm used to more visual/audio feedback. Aesthetically the levels are also kinda bland.

The gun play, AI, atmosphere, and level design are great fun though.

Been replaying Souls games on the PS3 and collecting the trophies I'm missing. So far I've Platinumed Demon's Souls and I'm 75% done Dark Souls. Debating whether I feel like slogging through DS2 again or going for a Platinum on my Jap copy of Demon's Souls.

Mid 30's here

I was replaying Bioshock 2, but the remastered version is such a piece of shit that it is CONSTANTLY crashing on Dionysus Park at random times. I think it has something to do with particle effects? it's always when I'm in the middle of an intense fight, even though my PC is strong to the point of running the game at 700fps normally (and even limiting it to 180 to match my monitors refresh rate didn't help), I do wanna finish it because I got a decent way into the game before it started seriously shitting the bed, but I think my next move is to lower the graphics down to the minimum for the duration of Dionysus Park and see if that helps

So I've decided to replay VTMB for the dozenth time for no real reason.

Outside of that I've been playing Deadlock, Elden Ring Nightreign, Helldivers 2, and Space Marine 2 PVE recently

DS2 runs and looks like shit on the PS3 even with it overclocked (though I did almost hit 60fps in some interior areas) and there's no online. DeS has private servers so I've been getting some co-op with friends in while trophy hunting. DeS is my favorite Souls game overall though

DS2 holds a steady 30 fps like 99% of the time. Which is more than you can say for ds1.

That’s so freaking cool. I only game on a steam deck now. I should have gotten an Ally X instead. I really wish games from that time had more controller support. It’s literally what is keeping me from playing the Hitman games. I don’t want to pretend that it’s because of jank that I won’t play it but PCs are so inconsistent when compared to consoles. Crashes, glitches, bugs and not even emulators could help it. Driver 3 has a floating point issue on emulators that makes the game somewhat unplayable. I am waiting on the new Gears to come out and just played a little of Mass Effect: LE, it’s just ok but the aspect ratio is and always was horrendous. A lot of games feel like abandonware these days that it makes it hard to want to invest in them because they, more than likely, are going to be forgotten. They are temporal things.

Doesn't the Steam Deck have a built in way to map the controller buttons ot PC keys?
I haven't got a deck, but I use big picture mode a bit, and it's one of the options in the settings menu when you go into the game and open the steam overlay

I used to use a rudimentary version of this with DS4Windows back in the day for older PC games (though it is kinda laborious to map out each key per game, but Steam did make it so you can use other people's published presets, so I found a few KB+M only games that had a few different community configurations for controllers

I found a steam guide for it, if this helps? https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2804823261

After 12+ years of not touching any online multiplayer game, I'm back and addicted to Halo MCC matchmaking. I seriously can't stop playing and I don't think it's nostalgia either: it's just that good.

Since I'm on a Halo rush I decided to try out Infinite matchmaking and it's just boring, I don't know what it is about it. I just don't understand it.

In trepang 2 the slide is ridiculously powerful. In harder difficulties you wont survive without using it as much as possible

The biggest thing trepang 2 has going against it, compared to fear, is the disjointed mission structure and rather short overall length. The plot is okay and ost fits perfectly for what the game aspires to be. A high octane slaughter fest where the player is the predator only remotely counterable by other predators (clones) of its kind

Steam does, but imagine using wasd with an analog stick. A lot of these games were made for consoles but they decided to remove controller support when porting to PC for whatever reason. Hitman Blood Money and Mass Effect 1 and 2 are perfect examples. Game devs knew that there was more money in console gaming, especially at that time, so they made their games based on consoles but didn’t include controller support for PC. It’s totally unfair. I don’t want to be an AVGN, but controllers are comfy, why should I compensate? It would be zased if we had more open source recomps of great games
