Yeah. But not really though because I played Battlefield Free 2 Play and that was abhorrent.

Yeah that one was pretty bad. I only have vague memories of OP related. Was it the one with the wallhack gimmick? What do you miss about it?

Yeah, you'd be able to see through walls for X seconds depending on the gear you had equipped. You could also call in a mechsuit too as a killstreak iirc.
I don't know, I just have fond memories of customizing my guns and sinking hours into being a shitter.

I actually prefer the original Blacklight before it was f2p trash when its playerbase died due to Call of Duty coming out the next week. Fun times

biggest issue with new competitive games is them forcing you to play like 100 matches against bots made by the devs, then 100 matches against bots run by chinese account/gold sellers, then maybe you get to meet a human

The f2p progression experience was like wading through thigh high mud uphill and blind while paying players were taking the cablecar up the mountain, lobbing piss jars and boiling feces on f2p heads.

God I miss it. They could’ve milked this cow like tf2 if it they had just kept up with it. But they ran off to do VTM2 and got shot in the head because it was turning out to be shit.

Holy based OP for a BLR thread. I put a few hundred hours into the game and even autism-math'd gun builds in Excel.

Melee + AMR was always my favorite dumb combo and it made people so mad.

Fun fact: You can buy the skull helmet from an Indonesian 'wearable art' studio named Machine 50/60, among other cyberpunk/BLR-style gear. Just open that wallet wide, though.

And the wallhack stuff also had stats like 'time to activate' and 'duration,' and you were vulnerable as fuck during the 'turn on wallhack' period.

A really novel mechanic, especially for the early 2010s.

No, that was how you balanced it. The mechanic wasnt braindead since if you constantly used it you were just running around corners as an easy kill.

Surprised to not see anyone else do the character card system. Encouraging players to shell out for the better combos seemed like a really sneaky way to do microtransactions.

Different aesthetic, though. BLR was closer to a GitS-type grounded cyberpunk, whereas CP2077 is more bombastic.

I remember sinking an UNGODLY amount of hours into the payload mode, the only map they made for that mode was soooo good but I wish they added more.

I loved the Search and Destroy mode had a gimmick with defusing the bomb like where you needed to tap left or right fast enough and so much dumbasses would fuck up the defuse

The sweat meta build was the 222 which was the skull mask, medium armor, heavy legs. It was the best medium class however I always through the armor balance was fine.

Remember when you needed to have a good GPU to even have an option to unlock the speed demon legs the last leg option in the game?
Anonymous No.717515165
>>717514408
>>717515040
I always thought BLR was able to balance effectively between light and heavy class compared to other FPS games. The heavy builds were slow but you were able to tank a lot of hits and while the lighter builds were fast as fuck but your head would go pop in an instant but you were that weak HP wise

Your designers have to be damn good, and you need to have some kind of meta balance, like 'best gun that shoots fast, but isn't high damage', 'highest damage gun, but it shoots slow,' etc.

Best in class will always rise to the top, so you need good devs with strong analytics skills to be able to monitor the data and adjust things.

But the modern day competency crisis means you're just going to get lazy shit where the MTX guns are objectively superior.
