one of my fondest memories are playing one of the included custom adventures and seeing the green guy say a swear
also, turning on invincibility and going out of bounds, finding weird places both in the vanilla game and in those level packs.
i tried downloading a fuckton of custom levels from a website but got filtered by their difficulty, i should try doing that again but picking the easier packs since i like the aesthetic of the game and the sense of exploration, but not necessarily the ball-busting platforming too much.

no death mode seems extremely scary at first (and it still is,) but the requirement to unlock it is doing really well in the time trials for each of the main dungeons of the map, and if you take the time to get V ranks on them, you learn in the process how to consistently beat all those screens you once thought were almost impossible to get on the first try.
the gravitron still remains as perhaps the hardest part, or was it the final level, i don't remember which is worse.
i beat it many years ago, but its been so long that i can hardly consider myself to be the same sweaty platformer tryhard that i was back then. i think you have to be a strange kind of person to consider going for it in the first place.
