Why is it so difficult or “impossible” for CBU3 to implement features in FFXIV that are now standard in GW2 or WoW? Is it because of the old Lightning Engine?

WoW and GW2 are Sandbox MMOs.
FFXIV is a Themepark MMO.
Meaning FFXIV is a curated experience and needs constant updates whereas WoW and GW2 have a lot more systems that allow free forming content. That doesn't mean FFXIV has no free form content or that GW2 and WoW does sandbox perfectly either, it's simply the genre of MMOs they are.

I think they already broke that glass with the "Bring back the Ascians", because they are familiar villains with a tragic backstory to which the players are still emotionally tied to. I thought it was nice that they went through the effort to have each job do a special animation for their 'attack' in the final battle cutscene.
Even if it was just your job's stock attack animation, it was great to see them put in some form of effort into the cutscenes again, because I was fully expecting it to just be a stock attack slapped across the board so even healers did a weird sword attack or a generic punch.

It was funny to hear that the VA for Wuk still cannot do any convincing shouting while maintaining his 'female voice'. The last couple of "Raaaaah!'s at the end of the battle cutscene were actually comically bad and I'm surprised that not many people are laughing about it like they did "Speeeeeeeeen".
