Paid games don't need to make DLC's, and most games don't have many.
People oppose MTX in paid games.
Paid games are NOT designed like freemium grindfests.
Meanwhile freemium games ONLY make money from MTX so they're ALWAYS designed to either break you with boring grind until you start wanting to skip all the work, or to get you addicted with numbers going up until you start excusing more and more frequent payments.
Bought games also have a "limit" of what you actually pay for them. Freemium games don't, and they want it that way.
Most importantly - all freemium shit is designed to eventually shut down and steal your money.

It doesn't need any radical changes. If you need healing the operator can do that and most health frames have built in healing.
It just needs a health gate. Every X health you get a shield gate equivalent. And you can add that in a "Gated Vitality" mod or equivalent. Its been years and we haven't received almost any upgraded defensive mods.
Also it doesn't really need to handle levelcap, because levelcap is gay and retarded.
Damage Attenuation is an entirely separate discussion. Its a useful tool if used sparingly but DE has been throwing it on a bunch of stuff that didn't need it. Regular enemies with it just get ignored and bypassed. Bosses with it are annoying and either bypassed with multishot stacking or treated as a timer.
